Jeff Murray currently serves as a Domestic Security Strategist (DSS) with the U.S. Secret Service National
Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) where he interfaces with community safety leaders to facilitate access
to NTAC resources and the development of targeted violence prevention programs. In addition, Mr.
Murray provides NTAC briefings to educators, law enforcement agencies, and public safety partners. He
also assists with consultations on threat assessment policy development and on individual complex
threat cases.
NTAC efforts focus on targeted violence directed at government targets, K-12 schools, university
campuses, workplaces, and public places. NTAC also issues guidance based on these research findings
for use by public safety entities for the purpose of adopting a proactive threat assessment approach to
violence prevention. NTAC regularly provides training based on research findings to educators and
federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Prior to joining the U.S. Secret Service, Mr. Murray was the Chief of Protective Security for the
Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Region Six, a directorate within the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security. Mr. Murray led teams of protective security advisors in their mission of
infrastructure assessment, special event support and incident response. He has also served as a
firefighter in Virginia, a police officer in Florida and was a counterintelligence specialist in the U.S.
Marine Corps. Mr. Murray earned his Master of Arts in Homeland Security from the Naval Postgraduate
School Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
